Phoenix Lidded Jar - Blue and White Porcelain

This Chinese porcelain lidded jar is hand-painted in deep cobalt blue with a detailed phoenix design. In Chinese culture the phoenix stands for prosperity and renewal. The domed lid is crowned with a traditional Fu dog, the Buddhist guardian lion, kept as a protector of the home.

Made from a high-grade porcelain mix of kaolin and petuntse and fired at 1400°C, the jar has a fully glazed body you can recognise by its clear ring and solid weight. A specific antique finish gives it the look of an older piece.

Set it on a mantel, console or in a display cabinet as a calm blue and white statement. A natural choice for anyone who collects hand-painted Asian porcelain. The lidded jars are sold per piece.
