The Golden Throne of Tutankhamun

This gilded throne is a replica of the famous golden throne found in the tomb of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun, now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The hand-carved woodwork carries rich Egyptian Revival decoration on every side, with a large scene of Tutankhamun and his queen across the backrest.

The craftsmanship shows in every detail, from the royal lion heads to the protective cobras on the armrests. The throne has curved legs ending in animal paw feet and fully modelled feline heads, joined by profiled stretchers. The arms rise in a soft curve, the rectangular backrest is gently domed, and baluster detailing runs along the back. A red seat cushion completes the piece.
