This marble lion rests with one paw on a heraldic shield, hand-carved from white marble after an antique model. The pose is the traditional guardian lion of armorial sculpture, watchful but at rest, carved with a soft cream tone across the mane and flanks.

The blank shield can stand on its own as a classical motif or be read as a crest, and the detailing of the mane and paws shows the hand of the carver throughout.

It suits a hallway, mantelpiece or console where a single classical accent is wanted, and pairs well with other marble pieces in a traditional interior.
