Eternal Harmony by David Liang – White Marble

Eternal Harmony in white marble is a ring sculpture by David Liang (b. 1976), carved by hand as one continuous band that twists once around itself. The twist opens an empty centre that leads the eye straight through the piece, and the silhouette changes with every angle.

The marble has a warm cream tone with fine grey veining and a few small dark flecks, and the surface is polished smooth. The slow turn of the band suggests calm, continuous movement – an image of balance and of the endless cycle that runs through much of Liang's work.

Liang carves each piece entirely by hand, drawing on a thorough grounding in art history and considerable technical skill. Signed and numbered 1 of 6, Eternal Harmony is original work by a living artist, cut from solid marble rather than cast.

Measuring 35 cm across and 30 cm high, with no base, the ring rests flat on a study desk, where it is seen from above as well as from the side. The same form is also made in black marble.

All our products carry a 24-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and care.
