Double Happiness Lidded Jar - Blue and White Porcelain

This blue and white porcelain lidded jar is painted in classic cobalt blue with the Shuangxi (Double Happiness) motif, a symbol that sits at the heart of Chinese tradition for good fortune and harmony. A dense scroll of stylised flowers wraps the body.

The porcelain is made from an authentic mix of kaolin and petuntse, fired at 1400°C. This gives a rock-hard, glassy ceramic of substantial weight. You can tell the quality of the material straight away from its clear ring and the heft of the jar.

The hand finish and the subtle antique look give the jar the character of an original old piece. A lasting addition to a mantelpiece, sideboard or display cabinet. Sold as a single piece.
