Bronze Panthers - Art Deco Pair

The panther was the animal of the Art Deco era. In the tradition of Rembrandt Bugatti, the Italian-French sculptor who spent his life in zoos chasing the movement no photograph could hold, this piece shows two panthers in exchange: bodies lightly arched, paws frozen mid-step. Only when you walk around it does the composition fully reveal itself.

Cast via cire perdue, the lost-wax method in use since antiquity and still the highest standard for figurative bronze, which makes every cast unique by definition. The dark brown, almost black patina is applied by hand and gives the surface a depth that only comes from this finishing. Museum quality, in a format that suits a console table, an entrance hall or a place as the anchor of an Art Deco interior.
