Art Deco Bronze Panther Sculpture – Walking Black Panther

A bronze sculpture of a black panther captured mid-stride, in the animalier style that ran through Art Deco. The smooth, simplified musculature and low, level head owe a clear debt to Rembrandt Bugatti, the sculptor who shaped how the modern animal figure was modelled in bronze.

The piece is cast by hand in fine bronze using the traditional lost-wax method, then finished with a dark patina close to black. The long line of the back and the trailing tail give the standing figure a sense of slow, deliberate movement. It rests on a slim naturalistic base.

At home on a mantelpiece, bookshelf or console table, this is a collector's piece for anyone drawn to feline sculpture and early-20th-century animalier bronze.
