Bronze Parrot Bookends, Art Deco Pair

Keep a row of books upright with this pair of bronze parrot bookends. Each bird perches on a tall plinth in the Art Deco animalier tradition, where sculptors such as François Pompon reduced birds and animals to smooth, simplified volumes. The two parrots face one another as a matched set.

Both bookends are cast in bronze with a dark brown, almost black patina that keeps the surface clean and graphic. The simplified modelling reads well from across a room while holding its detail close up.
