This bronze cat is caught drinking: the back gently arched, the front paws set together and the head lowered to a small flat dish cast in one with the base.
The long tail runs down behind and comes to rest on the edge of the bronze. Skull, ears and forelegs are cut in crisp planes, while the flanks are kneaded into softer masses whose ridges catch the light. The dark brown patina reads almost black in shadow and gives way to bright bronze on the edges; the rectangular base has irregular, knife-cut sides.
The loose, faceted modelling keeps the marks of the tool, in the early twentieth-century manner of modelling animals from life, and the stylised outline ties the piece to Art Deco animal sculpture. The cat is cast by hand, and the patina is worked on after casting.
Thirty-three centimetres long and 20 cm high, it is best seen from above, on a coffee table, where the lowered head and the dish are the first things the eye meets. From there the arch of the back runs in one curve from the ears to the tail.

Warranty
We aim for the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship in our bronze sculptures. All our products carry a 24-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and care.
