A finely modelled bronze cat sculpture after Le Chat buvant (Drinking Cat) by Rembrandt Bugatti (1884–1916), one of the most distinguished animal sculptors of the early 20th century. Bugatti’s intimate studies of animals captured not only anatomy, but temperament — this drinking cat embodies his signature blend of vitality and restraint.

Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, the hollow bronze preserves every trace of the sculptor’s hand: the subtle tension in the haunches, the arched spine, and the rhythmic line of the tail. The dark brown patina enhances the surface modelling and evokes the warmth of Bugatti’s original cire perdue bronzes, produced in limited editions by Hébrard in Paris.

Compact yet expressive (20 cm high, 33 cm long, 17 cm wide), this piece lends an air of understated sophistication to consoles, bookcases, or desk arrangements. Its quiet, concentrated pose brings a sense of stillness to modern minimalist or classical interiors, pairing beautifully with natural materials such as marble, oak, linen, or stone.

A collector’s object of museum quality — faithful in character to early animalier modernism.
