Art Deco Side Table – Montclair

Four S-curved legs carry the square top of the Montclair, a low Art Deco side table in burr walnut veneer of a warm reddish brown, crossed by darker stripes that follow every curve.

Each leg rises to its own corner and turns in beneath the top; at the floor it flares outwards into a flat, scrolled pad. On the top, a lighter, golden panel of parquetry forms an interlaced lattice, its strips passing over and under one another, framed by a thin pale stringing and a darker border whose grain runs across it.

At 38 cm high and 60 cm wide, the Montclair sits low enough to serve a single armchair as a small coffee table, a cup and a book set out on the lattice.

It is built entirely by hand: the curved rails are formed in layers, the veneer is hand-cut, laid mirrored and glued under pressure, and the finish comes up over several rounds of polishing and lacquer. French Art Deco treated veneer as the ornament itself, and MAD Paris records that Ruhlmann's two workshops produced many examples of a single model in different woods.

Warranty
We aim for the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship in our bronze sculptures. All our products carry a 24-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and care.
