Art Deco Side Table – Gatsby

The Gatsby is an Art Deco side table built on contrast: a round top in honey-toned burr walnut veneer, raised on a base finished in glossy black. A thin dark band runs along the upper edge of the top, and the deep apron beneath it is veneered in the same burr.

The base is drawn in arcs. Flat, curved legs leave the underside of the apron, each marked there by a black sphere, and sweep inwards to a central hub; below the hub, a ring in the tone of the top sits on a round black plinth.

Every Gatsby is a new table, made by hand. The burr veneer on top and apron is finished under a glossy varnish that deepens the dark eyes in its figure, while the lacquered black base keeps its outline crisp. The design follows French Art Deco, whose high point the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris places at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts.

Standing 61 cm high, the top comes roughly level with the arm of a sofa, and its 60 cm diameter takes a lamp, a glass and a small bronze side by side. Brass, black and deep colours sit well against the warm burr.

Warranty

All our products carry a 24-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and care.
