Art Deco Side Table – Darcy

Two stacked half-moon drawers give the Darcy its curved front: an Art Deco side table veneered all over in burr walnut, its honey tone clustered with dark knots and flame figure under a high gloss.

The drawers are set into a cylindrical body, each with a small brass knob, and hold rings, earrings or a pair of reading glasses. Above them the round top has a stepped edge, while at the back the cylinder rises into a curved rim that keeps a lamp, a small clock or a little sculpture from sliding off.

A single wide support in the shape of a U clasps the body at either side, leaving open space beneath it, and stands on a round plinth in two tiers. Soft, architectural outlines of this kind belong to French furniture that went by the name 'Style Moderne' in the 1920s; the term Art Deco came later, in the 1960s, according to the V&A.

Every Darcy is made entirely by hand, from veneer leaves selected one by one, and finished with a protective varnish that deepens the honey tone of the burr. At 90 cm, it rises well above most side tables and can stand in a bedroom next to a full-length mirror, the day's jewellery close at hand in its drawers.

Warranty
We aim for the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship in our bronze sculptures. All our products carry a 24-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and care.
