Art Deco Round Side Table – Miller

The Miller is a round Art Deco side table in pale burr walnut veneer, standing on curved legs that swell outwards, narrow, then flare again onto the plinth. The result is a lyre-like outline, open enough to see through from any side.

Built new and entirely by hand, the Miller carries its burr over top, edge, legs and plinth alike; a varnish protects the veneer while drawing out its swirling figure. The design follows the French Art Deco of Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879–1933), a designer the V&A remembers for elegant lines and exotic wood veneers.

Next to a chaise longue, the 64 cm top stands a little above the seat, so a book or a cup of tea stays close to hand, and the 60 cm diameter leaves room for a small lamp.

The model name recalls the big-band swing of the Art Deco years. At the heart of the base, a square block of darker, striped wood carries a single glossy sphere of ebony, and a small dark circle marks the exact centre of the top directly above it.

Warranty

All our products carry a 24-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and care.
