Art Deco Round Side Table – Ellington

A raised black moulding rims the round top of the Ellington, an Art Deco side table in pale, honey-toned burr walnut veneer with dark eyes scattered through its figure.

Just below the moulding runs a narrow inlaid band of small squares, alternating straw-coloured and reddish-brown wood like a chequerboard. The deep, straight apron beneath is in the same burr, and so are the four wide, flat legs that drop from it and curve inwards to the base. The plinth is round and built in two tiers, each ringed with black lacquer.

Set in an entrance hall, it gives a bowl for keys and a vase of flowers somewhere to stand; height and diameter both measure 60 cm, enough for the two to sit side by side without crowding.

Each Ellington is newly made by hand, the chequer band inlaid into the edge and the whole table finished under a glossy varnish. Pale burr set off by black, and a border worked in squares: these are the contrasts and the geometry of French Art Deco, whose geometric forms, the V&A observes, reached into all aspects of life.

Warranty

All our products carry a 24-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and care.
