Art Deco Round Side Table – Coltrane

The Coltrane is an Art Deco side table named after the jazz musician John Coltrane, whose playing pushed at the edges of the music. In the same spirit, this handmade table sets careful craft against a forward-looking shape.

The round top is laid in walnut veneer, with warm tones and a flowing grain, and a lacquer finish brings out the figure while protecting the wood. The colour reads as a deep reddish-brown, with the striped pattern of the veneer running across the top and down the frame.

The base keeps to clean geometric lines, with legs that curve up in a shape that calls to mind the body of a saxophone. They rest on a glossy black drum base in ebony, which gives a strong contrast against the warmer wood above.
