Bronze Lion Bookends - Art Deco Pair

A pair of bronze lion bookends in the Art Deco manner, modelled as two young lions at play against upright supports. The green patina gives each cat a soft, weathered surface that suits the animalier tradition of the early twentieth century.

Both sculptures are made entirely by hand in bronze and finished with a green-blue patina, cast using the traditional lost-wax method. The weighted bases hold a shelf of books in place and let the figures read as small sculptures in their own right.
