This marble horse sculpture is carved after the antique Roman stallion in the Vatican collection, the base inscribed MVNIFICENTIA PII SEXTI P M in the manner of the original. Hand-carved in high-quality white marble, the standing horse has real energy: every muscle, tendon and vein is cut with precision, and the flowing mane and tail, the tension in the legs and the slightly turned head give a clear sense of movement.

The horse stands on an oval marble base with a tree-trunk support at the belly, in keeping with classical and Grand Tour carving. The grey movement in the stone runs across a softly finished surface.

For an interior that wants a touch of history, this is more than a decorative object. Place it in a wide hall, a classical sitting room or a sheltered garden for a sense of scale and quiet grandeur.
