This sunburst mirror (sunburst / miroir soleil) is a contemporary interpretation with an antique character, handcrafted after a French model. The frame is constructed from solid wood and prepared with a fine chalk ground and red bole, over which gold leaf has been applied, finished with a subtle antique patina.
At the centre sits a convex butler mirror glass with a profiled rope-style surround and a black lacquered inner edge. Surrounding the mirror, richly curved flame rays radiate outward, creating a vivid and dynamic sunburst effect.
