A superb bronze sculpture depicting the Faun with Cymbals — an exuberant figure derived from the celebrated 19th-century model by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827–1875). The faun, half-human and half-goat, embodies the wild vitality of classical mythology: caught mid-movement, muscles tense, as he raises his cymbals in ecstatic dance.

This exceptional cast is produced in patinated bronze using the traditional lost-wax process, preserving every detail of Carpeaux’s dynamic modelling — the twisting torso, animated expression, and textured hair that capture both motion and emotion. The rich dark brown patina accentuates the interplay of light and shadow, bringing sculptural depth and warmth to the surface.

Historically, Carpeaux’s Faun with Cymbals reflects the 19th-century fascination with antiquity and the expressive body. Drawing from the Dionysian spirit of Hellenistic art, it celebrates movement, rhythm, and sensual joy — qualities that made Carpeaux a pivotal figure between Romanticism and Realism.
