Art Deco Table – Gardet

The Gardet Art Deco Table is an example of the constructive formal language widely used in France around 1930. The table features a pronounced V-shaped support, a characteristic solution within Art Deco furniture design that combines stability with visual rhythm.

The entire piece is finished in walnut burl veneer, recognisable by its warm, flame-like grain and small natural knots within the surface. The veneer is hand-selected and book-matched to allow the wood pattern to unfold with clarity and balance. A transparent lacquer finish protects the surface while enhancing the natural tones of the walnut burl.

Beneath the tabletop sits a narrow drawer, finished in the same veneer and fitted with metal knobs. The drawer is suitable for small items such as keys or correspondence.

The Gardet rests on a layered base incorporating a slim band of black lacquer — a detail frequently used in salons and entrance halls during the interwar period to create contrast between warm woods and darker accents.

Each table is handcrafted by experienced cabinetmakers skilled in traditional furniture-making techniques. As a result, the Gardet integrates seamlessly into both historic Art Deco interiors and contemporary spaces where craftsmanship and high-quality materials are central.
